Terms & Conditions
1. Acceptance of these terms
By using Internet Stadium you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use the platform. They apply to everyone: viewers who join a queue, and creators who open a Stadium.
2. What Internet Stadium is
A creator opens a Stadium, their audience joins the queue, and the creator plays whoever is next in line, 1v1 and live. Chess is the first game available.
We provide the platform: the sign-ups, the queue, the game itself and the payments. We do not produce the stream, and we do not decide who plays. The creator decides when their Stadium is open and starts each game manually; the queue decides who is called.
3. Accounts
You can join a queue as a guest with a display name and an email address, or with a full account. You are responsible for everything done through your account, and for keeping your sign-in details to yourself.
A username is yours while you hold it. It must not impersonate another person, creator or brand, and we may reclaim one that does. You may hold one active entry per Stadium at a time.
4. Joining a queue
Entries are free or paid, depending on what the creator has opened. A paid entry buys a position in line. It does not buy a guaranteed game.
We do not guarantee that a Stadium will stay open for any length of time, that any particular entry will be played, or that a creator will behave in any particular way on their own stream. What we guarantee is the queue: the order is decided by the platform and cannot be overridden by the creator.
5. The 30 second rule
When it is your turn you are called on the Stadium page and you have 30 seconds to join the game.
If you do not join within those 30 seconds your entry is removed from the queue as a no-show, the next player is called, and a paid entry is not refunded. This is the most important rule on the platform. Stay on the page while you wait.
6. Payments and refunds
Prices are set by the creator and shown to you before you pay, in the currency displayed at checkout. Internet Stadium is the merchant of record for every payment taken on the platform. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.
Paid entries are non-refundable, with two exceptions. Both are automatic. Neither requires you to ask us for anything:
- If the creator ends their Stadium while you are still waiting, your entry is refunded.
- If you are still waiting 24 hours after paying, your entry is refunded.
The distinction those two draw is who failed to appear. Where the creator did, you are refunded. Where you did, you are not: a no-show under section 5 is not refunded, and neither is leaving a paid queue of your own accord before you are called. In both of those cases the player chose not to play.
A refund is returned to the payment method you used and may take several days to appear, depending on your bank.
7. Creator payouts
Creators are paid through Stripe Connect and must complete Stripe onboarding before receiving anything. A platform fee is deducted from each paid entry and the remainder is transferred to the creator.
Payout timing, minimums and Stripe’s own fees are governed by Stripe’s terms, which a creator accepts during onboarding. Creators are responsible for declaring and paying any tax due on what they earn.
Refunds under section 6 are made from the entry that was paid, including the part transferred to the creator.
8. Fair play and conduct
Do not use the platform to harass, abuse or impersonate anyone. Do not use a chess engine, another person, or any outside assistance during a game. Do not disrupt a creator’s stream, and do not use the platform for anything unlawful.
We may remove an entry, end a game, or suspend an account for any of the above. A paid entry removed for a breach of this section is not refunded.
9. Your content
You are responsible for what you put on the platform: your display name, your avatar, and, if you are a creator, your Stadium’s title, description and image.
You keep ownership of it. You grant us the right to display it on the platform and in the things the platform generates from it, such as share cards and stream overlays. We may remove anything that breaks these terms or is harmful, offensive or infringing.
10. Our intellectual property
The platform, its name, its branding, its design and its software are ours. Nothing in these terms transfers any of it to you.
11. Availability and liability
Internet Stadium is provided as is. Games are played live over the internet, and we do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, that a connection will hold, or that any game will finish.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the platform. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Continuing to use the platform after a change is your acceptance of it.
13. Contact
Questions about these terms, a payment or a refund go through our contact form.
